Civil Society Sustainability Program (CSSP)

Civil Society Sustainability Program (CSSP) is a five-year project implemented by Center for Civil Initiatives (CCI), as a main implementer, and Center for Promotion of Civil Society (CPCD) as a partner. Program is implemented from September 2013 to August 2018. It is funded by USAID and British Embassy in BiH.

CSSP is strengthening the role of civil society in BiH in development of the public policies, monitoring of the implementation of the policies and building a foundation for long-term sustainability of civil society organizations (CSOs) in BiH. CSSP's goal is to strengthen the capacities of civil society to influence promulgation and implementation of the public policies of public interest in the following sectors: 1. employment and labor market, 2. economic development policies, 3. public finance, 4. education, 5. health, 6. environment and energy efficiency, 7. agriculture and rural development, 8. judiciary, 9. culture, 10. human rights-marginalized groups, 11. women rights and 12. combating corruption.

Confident in their capacities and the potentials to meet the challenges of project, in January 2014 SIF in BiH and IBHI responded to the call for strategic partners for implementation of the CSSP program. From February to April 2014, a wide process of selection of the best applicants – BH CSOs - was conducted in order to select the implementers in the mentioned 12 sectors. Among many quality contenders, SIF in BiH and IBHI were selected the CSSP Program's strategic partners for the sector human rights – marginalized groups.

Backbone of the CSSP Program, worth 4.8 mil USD, consists of the grants to the CSOs – sector implementers, as follows:

1.) Creation of the networks of sector stakeholders (up to 50.000 USD per sector);
2.) Public advocacy campaigns for solving of the priority problems in the sectors, as identified by the stakeholders' networks (up to 250.000 USD per sector),
3.) Development and implementation of the sustainability strategies and communication with citizens (up to 100.000 USD per sector).

The sector partners are applying for each consecutive grant, by presenting to donors a detailed technical proposal for implementation and utilization of the grant funds.

As one of the important outputs of the CSSP Program within the sector of SIF in BiH/IBHI's responsibility, the Coalition of marginalized groups in BiH KOMA has been established in November 2014 (please see WWW.KOMA.SIF.BA ). In the course of the four years, KOMA will be implementing public advocacy campaigns for solution of the priority problems in the sector of human rights of the marginalized groups in BiH.
